Sometimes the type of hose to be used and/or the application will dictate the type of fastening to be used. For instance the fuel trade use mostly composite hoses which must have their couplings swaged in using a plated steel ferrule. There are however a number of ways to secure the couplings into the hoses:

• Single bolt hose clamps
• Double bolt malleable iron hose clamps
• Worm drive hose clips
• Claw clamps
• Preformed clips
• Wiring in
• Four bolt spanlock clamps
